Anyone know anything about levinson blade guitars? I see one for sale but I can't find much info about the guitar. I know some were made in Switzerland, some in It is actually very hard to get any info on the guitars. If you have the serial number you can email Levinson and they will give you info on the. I have an RH2 which is my only guitar. It really is a fantastic instrument; beautiful feeling neck, great tone and rock solid tuning!! I started to get some issues with the switch for the VSC, and as I was not using it anyway I bypassed it (and the tone control while I was in there). I paid £530 used, and would happily pay that for another. I tried an RH4 recently (one of the early ones), and preferred the Wilkinson trem on my RH2. Used they go for anywhere from £700-£850. Interestingly, the same pickups are used on the RH4 and RH2 now. I know I need a second guitar as a back-up, and it will take a pretty special creation to tempt me away from getting another Blade. I have 3 Blades- an early RH4, anearly 90s tele (T2 as it was then) and amid 90s Texas 62 Strat. I have 5PRS and DonGrosh as well amongs my gear. My RH4 has been iwth my tech for a while whilst we consider the replacement pick up for the bridge, just an upgrade. Hell, I miss it more than i woulld miss any of my other high end guitars. The build quaity is superb. Making comparisons with Suhr or Andersons is difficult as Blades are different take on strats - Blades are designed to be very versatile instruments covering a greater tonal pallette, but I would put Blade up against any make. I watch out for them on ebay and notice that early RH4s are really beginning to go up in price. There was an early RH4 recently on ebay that had an asking price of £1899 - too hig, but feel that early high end Blades are beginning to be appreciated for the great guitars that they are. However there are still bargains to be had and I paid £450 for my Texas little over a year ago. A different beast to the RH4 and not quite as refined a tone, more a rock instrument, but even that guitar is a class instrument, way ahead of a standard US strat. Surprised by comment of lacking tuning stability as have never had any problems and whilst the floating trem system on the RH4 might not be to everyones liking (no dive bombing possible) it is a system that means if a string breaks, the guitar stays in tune. Difficult to know how the RH4 could be better constructed as Gary Levinson has really thought it through. Always got confused when I saw a Panama red in blue! It's an incredible guitar (I was going to say for the money but it's actually amazing for any price!) and so versatile. It's a total go-to instrument for me and basically if I'm playing 'as me' rather than apeing someone else, it's the one I play (other than my P90 LPJ) Amazingly powerful, although I never use the boost. And that finish is utterly beautiful I have made one upgrade- a Callaham short trem arm. The block is tool steel as standard, another example of Gary's attention to detail.
